Fashion Trends In 2019 ~ by Anu PD
We
are well into the new year and taking stock of what lies ahead! Even though we are
still pulling at our shawls and coats to cosy up, the fashion winds continue to
blow intrends for SS 2019. Here's a shortlist of the runways' latest trends--- in
a world where Uncertainty is the only Certainty, its good to loosen up and go
explore some new ideas!
-- Colours:Saturated colors with neons hit
our wardrobes- we have seen these are great ways to brighten up the balance year
ahead. Tone-on-tone Beige and Caramel rock! And
Yellow, of course, which shows up in the form of Gold, Pastel Yellow,
Turmeric, various shades of pink specially Apricot,
including the particularly loud magenta of Pink Peacock, and some gorgeous
blues.
--
Print mixing: One of the fastest
ways to put a little spring in your step is to mix up your prints -- animal
prints (which have been on since last winter) to stripes of all types, to
tropical florals, to checks, have fun with prints! If you shy away from all the
crazy, mixed-up prints, then stick to one motif, such as polka dots.
--
Crochet and more. The boho hippie
grows up this year and gets hooked on new interpretations of crocheted dresses
and tunics. Lace also takes on more of a vintage '70s look in casual, sporty
pieces. Crocheted bags and purses too!
-- Tie-dye.Itsa new spin on an old favorite like tie-dye, and its a hit.
Tie-dyeis a form of resist dyeing, and a favorite '60s fashion trend. It is
once again revived in everything from T-shirts to shift dresses to swimsuits.
--Tiered dresses and skirts: next summer it will bloom into a full on
obsession, while already being an ongoing trend.
--
Frilly dresses. In the softest of
fabrics, such as chiffon and satin, the dress is all dressed up this year with
feathers, ruffles, ruching and bows. The short babydoll dress is back! Feel like
a princess again and give these frilly dresses a whirl.
--
The bold blazer. The huge jackets
that had a moment last fall are shaping up to be a little more tailored: The
soft, belted styles are favorites when worn with short skirts, cropped ankle
trousers or even board shorts.
--
Cargo pants. In updated cargos,
cropped with straight legs or full and high-waisted and earthy khaki colors,
the utility trend is back in full force this spring. Pair these with feminine
blouses and strappy heels for a contemporary twist. Jumpsuits are also a part
of this trend.
--
Denim. We’re talking super-oversized
trucker jackets, loose-legged jeans and denim cargo pants. Don’t be afraid of
color or of layering up multiple shades in one look. Bleached-out is big,
as is acid-wash denim to show up in patch-pocket jeans, jackets and vests to
wear with this season's sugary pastels.
-- Vacation
aesthetic
This
trend speaks to sustainability, with an emphasis on uncovering treasures,
locally, and celebrating individual style rather than one definitive
interpretation. This is a vacation-inspired aesthetic -- on the runways it
came across as worldly eclecticism. The look is travel apparel for every
day. It’s made up of several key pieces –Sarong-like wrap skirts, Bermuda
shorts, tie-dyed tees and boxy Cuban shirts.
